Specialist Substance Misuse Support

Substance misuse refers to the use of alcohol, drugs, or prescription medications in a way that they are not meant to be used that could be harmful to an individual’s health and wellbeing.  

Substance misuse can have a wide range of detrimental effects on an individual’s life and can cause serious health problems such as liver and heart disease, as well as mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.

Prescription Medicine

Work with our substance misuse specialist is provided on an individual basis and led by the specific circumstances of each client but may involve the following:

  • Providing medical signposting and advice to individuals facing issues with substance misuse

  • Developing and implementing treatment plans 

  • Monitoring progress and adjusting treatment plans as and when necessary

  • Educating patients and their families on substance misuse and treatment options

  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients

  • Conducting assessments and screenings to identify substance misuse disorder

  • Providing support to patients during the recovery process

  • Advocating for patients and promoting harm reduction strategies

  • Talking therapy such as CBT may help you understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

We are unable to offer medication support or detox within our community setting.
